TOOLEY
Hi all, about to pick up a new a new Patrol wagon. I thought I would get a set of Bridgestone 694's after some good reports. BS now tell me they do not have a 265/70/17 size to fit. I had Coopers ATR's on the last one with a lot of side wall damage.
I travel a lot of Western Australian gravel roads & rocky country in the Gascoyne area.
Any suggestions, cheers Tooley

Agree on that one traveled extensively through Aus on BFG ATs and never had a problem with them.
Just fitted a new set yesterday as a I will move to
Darwin son.
Cheers

I second that, BFG AT's ate the
Broken Hill area for breakfast, no damage and great wear, the Coopers I foolishly upgraded to have sliced sidewalls and lost great chunks of tread blocks (ST-C's AND STT's).
My next set will be Pro-Comp Extreme A/T's though. I have heard and seen great things from these tyres and want to give them a try.

Hi Tooley
My new Patrol (petrol) came with 275/65/17 Bridgestone 693 AT as standard.
Not a tyre I would have chosen , but mounted on pretty alloys I kept them for around town use and frequently change to other
wheels sets for bush(steel rims).
I feel this saves in the long run.
For the gravel work I keep a set of BFG at , as per other posts above.
They work better on gravel than most others because the lugs and gaps between more closely approach a 50/50 ratio whch means more gravel
can get into grooves before the tyre begins to slide.

I have a 08 Patrol with 17 inch rims. Original Duelers lasted just under 40k. Upgraded to Cooper ATR LT. Have done 30000km so far with no problems. Have driven on Gibber roads up around Nocundra / Innaminka, although most kms on black top. No chipping so far and no damage to sidewalls. Heaps of tread left, at least another 30 - 40,000km. Original Duelers looking shabby at this stage, so no complaints about the Coopers.
