Hi, Im having problems with my gu Patrol seat belts, they will not retract on their own, they have to be pushed in by hand. Ive asked a couple of patrol owners and it doesn't seem to bother them but it annoys the crap out of me. Just wondering if anybody out there has had similar problems, or can tell me the best way to rectify them. Thanks

G,day Julio
I think you will find a build up of grime where the belt slides at the upper mounting point i do a few at my work, i just scrape of grime with a plastic blade or small blade screwdriver & then clean surface with prepsol or similar. Cheers Grant.

Hi Julio

Try spraying the belt and retracter with silicon spray. Works a treat on mine.

G'day Julio.
I have had problems with my Nissan seatbelts not retracting as well. Getting it with my 30,000 k old hilux already too.
What I have done in the past is to pull the belt right out as far as it goes & wash it & where it slides back in. I just used dish washing soap & a brush & rinsed the belt off with the hose.
You can give it a spray of teflon or silicone spray when it is dry.
Worst case is you might have to pull the cover off the pillar & clean down there as well.

From memory there was a recall for this issue, however all they did was clean the belt and put on a kit that had a tape that fitted to the the top guide to allow the belt to slide a bit better. Mine does same and my Falcon did same. Maybe the recall was for the Ford?? As others have said cleaning belt and guides is fix, Check the top guide for crud.

It wasn't a recall, just a service bulletin issued to dealers. The kit consisted of a piece of fine wire which was used to clean the top guide by working it back and forth like a sawing motion. The tape was then to go between the belt and slide to provide a friction free surface for the belt to slide on. In reality the tape proved almost impossible to fit without creasing it. The best solution is as stated before, to thoroughly clean the belt and top slide.

There is a Nissan fix kit for this. Part number is 87880 79900.

I think they about $12-$15. You will need one kit per seat.

Hope this helps.

If you clean the seat belt wiyh a hot soapy solution rinse then when dry apply armorall they will zoom back in. Do this with mine when needed and works well.

I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.
