Hi
I was wandering if any one out there has the latest TD Jeep Grand Cherokee and if so how is it going ?
They seem pretty good value for money for all the standard extras they have on.
Also the TD has pretty good power. 177kw and 550 Nm.

Not sure how reliable they are or how good in the bush they are ?

If you're in WA, The Western Australian did a write up on the Jeep Rubicon late last week - I think it was the Saturday's edition if you can get a copy. Impressive write up for off road work. Don't know how close it matches the Cherokee though.

Lachie,
I'm sitting here waiting for delivery of mine which is due in February. I have high hopes and fits of depression as I have to get rid of my beloved 80 Series some time after the Jeep arrives, but I'm stalling the sale.

I don't know what the protocols are for recommending another forum from this forum so I'll be cautious and not do so, but if you do a google search with the words given below, exactly as I've given it, you will probably find the opinions that you are looking for. I did, on page 28. It is now up to 42 pages and growing so happy reading.

Copy and paste the line below into your google search.

Here you go WBS. Any site that has over 800 responses to a topic that continues to run for four months deserves a link. Big call going from an 80 to a Jeep. Good luck......Experience tells me you're going to need it. My Jeep experiment has just come to an end & how reassuring it is to be back in a Toyota.
Caravan forum.
Cheers Craig......

Lol Craig, I'm afraid we're in the same basket as you, went from having various Cruisers to buying a Wrangler. Our mistake was buying a petrol and thinking it would be an ok travel / touring vehicle for now at least (have two kids, counting the years and years until they leave home and we retire :D)
Anyhow I think we finally have a vehicle that we should have brought a long time ago...V8 Troopy 5 seater!
The biggest thing we didn't like was having to carry petrol and the rate that petrol was consumed!

But then again take away the kids, give us a Wrangler with an awesome diesel engine in it, the story might have been different.

Local people I know have a Cherokee, not sure what year or if it's a diesel but they think it's great!

If the Cherokee is anything like the Wrangler, they have a lot more electronics in them compared to the good old 80 series. But I suppose at one point or another you eventually have to move on and get on with the new tech in one way or another.

For everything Jeep check out the AJOR forum (ausjeepoffroad) it's Australian based.

I drove the diesel and it was excellent. I have a 2004 Grand diesel and really like it so was interested in upgrading. However, I do not like where they have put the parking brake on the new Grand, it bangs my left shin. They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with that design flaw. Mike
