Hi
Thanks for this trek information. People have gone to a lot of trouble to put all of this together.
My question is it OK and practicable to take a small dog to the top of the Cape?
Any comments from people who have done so and any good advice, negative and positive is appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation
Cheers
Phil

Should be OK but keep a close eye on it. Local dogs in the NPA communities are not under the same control as in your local council's area. Also be aware of crocs when near
water. In October from the
Seisia jetty one morning we all watched a croc slowly cruise towards a dog howling on
the beach because its owner had gone off in a tinny. The dog wandered off
the beach when the croc was about 100m away so it quietly sank out of sight. Later in the day the croc was seen on Red Island just off the jetty. Visitors were asking, "Is that a croc or a log?"
A few minutes later the log was gone so that answered their question.

G'day Phil
We took our small dog with us when we went up in 2009...As long as you keep an eye on the dog when near any
water you should be fine...
Cheers.......Borgy

took 2 dogs up in october, staffy and a shepherd,no problems at all, however we didnt do lakefield as was there last year and very very dry, also you may miss out on
twin falls and
fruit bat falls.we still went there.left the dogs in the ute at fruit bat and camped at canal ck and left them with the trailer for visit to twin/elliot falls, other than that no dramas, loyalty beach and
punsand bay allow dogs and all the
bush camping to
the tip is ok ,watch them with the crocs, they swam in croc areas but only in the shallows where the
water was clear and I could see if anything was around.they both came on the walk to
the tip too, I have done the cape a few times without dogs and thought it might be a pain in the bum but we all had a ball ,dont worry to much about it ,it is much easier than you think .send me a message if you would like any more info

Thanks to OnYaBike, Dave and edwin for your information.
We plan to go in 2012 with a 1 yo Miniature Schnauzer towing a CubCamper behind the Patrol.
We haven't been
camping with the dog yet and might try a few short trips first just to see how he handles it.
Cheers and keep up the noble task of
camping
Phil
