Also, what do you think of the price ? I am just looking for a car for 2 months and will then sell it again. I test drove it and it was ok. Just dunno abt the timing chain or belt. If it is a belt, owner does not know when it was changed last as he only owns it since 4 months

It will be a chain in the 4D56 motor fitted to that vintage.

Which brings up another point - it will be a 2.5, not a 2.8. They were a bit of a slug, but fairly simple and reliable. Given that the pic shows it on a beach have a good look for rust.

A bit of a slug !!! I had a 2.8 I thought it was a slug . 2.5 same as currant model
all that a side 1988 and your only keeping it 2 months , there is more to go wrong than timing belt/ chain .......

Hi Tom B1,

I have one of that vintage and it has a belt not a chain as mentioned above.
I am very happy with mine, has plenty of power for my needs and I would not consider it to be a 'slug', goes up Willunga Hill in SA better than my 4.2 Troopy or Patrol.

Cheers,
Dennis
