Yes, the new code has been loaded that I spoke about but please understand that this its unfinished and more changes have yet to be rolled out. The main changes are:
1. massive
shop change - so much better to search/find/buy. Awesome (we think), hope you find it great too.
2. site header/menu positioning - we wanted to get the image scroller onto every page of the site, where previously it was just the home page. This also meant we could get a nicer positioning of our logo beneath the menu rather than above, and place the leaderboard advertisement alongside our logo below the menu. It's now the same layout as on www.triathlonoz.com that we liked more (we launched this site early in the year - we want both sites running the same code for all page elements).
Other than various subtle style/colour changes we have done nothing to the
Forum, or other sections yet but various style/colour issue have cropped up that we intend to action asap but had to get this code off the development machine onto the live production machine.
Thanks Michelle

Looking good already, so if that is a
sign of things to come, it can only be for the better.
Looks brighter and more colourful,
well done

Firstly thanks for the work Michael.
However it may be fine for all the users who either are members or have enough funds to afford a "fast" computer. I am neither and am not too please with the habit that developers have of adding "fancy" things. The sooner that I can get it off the screen the better.
Sorry mate but it is a real pain to me.
Regards
Phil

Nah!!! Just me blowing off steam. Just an observation. It seems that the IT and entertainment scene is in a continuous loop. Bigger progarms = bigger PCs = bigger programs = bigger PCs. "ad infinitum".
It makes it hard for those who do not update, for many reasons, each year or two. This PC is 6 years old and already huffing and puffing.
Have fun
Phil

Agree, where I work, connection is very very slow and all the ads and rolling pictures etc seem to make loading pages a lot slower than before. Can we have to option of not accepting the changes or turning them off, as per members opting out of ads?

David,
I have found the same at work. I don't know if it was just because the programs had been loaded on the first morning but I could not load exploroz at all. Then again that might be a blessing for some on the
forum.
Hope you get any bugs out before you tear your hair out.
Happy ITing,
RA.

i am tryingtolike it but i dont, the blue lookes "cheap" sorry guys but just being honest, the "Accor" ad with it's bland colors seems to clash with it also, or it maybe makes it stand out more, dunno but maybe a shade or 2 darker would be better...
Maybe we are jumping to conclusions and it is not finished eh

Thanks for the
feedback so far. We have more work to do, as this update was just needed to move to the new base structure and to implement the fantastic new
shop layout/features. We have only modified the front pages of the various site sections like
Classifieds but have yet to roll the new theme through the sub-pages.
One really nice thing to notice is the new tab system for viewing/adding
feedback (reviews, questions, comments) throughout the site. This was important for
shop items, so once we got that right, we've rolled it into the rest of the site. Look at the
shop home page (bottom) and
Classifieds (bottom) to see what I mean.
Your reviews are really valuable to other people - so it was important to allow us to improve ease of viewing your
feedback.
Well done to you all for all your assistance and contributions to reviews etc. Just to clarify all of these feedbacks get auto-duplicated to the
Forum with a special header - so you never have to move off the page to stay informed (we know you like that) :)
Have a great nite all.
I'm going to insist David gets more than 5 hours sleep tonight for the first time in 2 weeks.

David,
did you ever consider "freezing" the top of the pane namely where all the tabs are. It would be great as you can scroll through a very lengthy post/blog/article and always have to scroll back to the top of the page to select a tab or return to the
forum (other than using the back button of course). Would be great if you could scroll through and the tabs were always visible at the top of the page.
Just a thought.
Cheers Mick

Good look, easy on the eye!
Given the number of us using portable devices please be mindfull of the speed issue and amount grunt to run any additional sexy items. I'd like to know how to turn these off if possible. Can we be presented with a choice from the site itself?

Leigh the site is not avail in a mobile specific format but we do intend to look at that soon. Can you confirm exactly what "sexy features" you want the option to turn off? What page of the site does this comment refer to? I don't understand what you've suggested sorry.
Thanks Michelle

David do you intend to revise the format to suit "widescreen" computers?
At the moment it's like a 4X3 TV as opposed to a 16X9 new widescreen.
Looks good tho....

Do you remember we used to do that? Problem is, by offering a resizeable layout we cannot control what fits on the page - its not actually that easy. For the volume of ROI we get, we cannot afford the programming cost to offer that at this point. Whilst we acknowledge the importance of our revenue earned from
Membership, at only 5% of our site audience, the majority of ROI comes from advertisers and in
shop sales so these parts of the site are critical to control and keep standardised as you can appreciate. But hey, you never know what's around the corner! LIke you, we use widescreen ourselves, but I tend to work between multiple windows all at once - looks like my messy desk, stuff everywhere!! LOL

Hi David and Michelle,
Firstly I must say what a great job you have done, and what a great site this is.
Some constructive
feedback for you.
I cant get the log in screen to show anything whilst using firefox ver 2.0.0.02.
however if I use windoze explorer v6 I can.
Any suggestions if its my older computer, or if some code is not talking to firefox.
Have enabled javascript etc in the browser.
hope this helps debug it further.
cheers andwell done on an excellent site with all it offeres.

Hi Trains, is there a reason you have not updated to a newer version of Firefox? Not only will it fix your problem, but you'll get better performance. There is always a reason for new browser versions, so its always best to keep up to date, and especially when things don't seem to be working as they should. BTW - Firefox is up to version 8 ! Also - most webdevelopers PREFER Firefox, than IE, and if you use EO a lot, you'll probably enjoy it more if you use Firefox as things are just nicer in that browser.
Regards and thanks, Michelle

Hi Trains,
I've re-instated your old profile with your new email address (so your login details are still the same but you get your old screen name back). I'm not sure if you'll get a notification of this response (as the profile you used "trainslux" doesn't exist anymore) so I'll also send this info to you via email.
