Guys i need some help!
I have just bought a 1989 HJ75RV Troopy.
It was a "one owner" car with an unbelievable service history in an immaculate condition.
I just wanted it even though it didnt have A/C.
It has the bolt holes on the engine block to fit a unit to it but im having trouble finding one.
Can someone help?
Does anyone know someone who can help locating one????
Look forward to any responses.
Cheers,
Gaz.

Gaz,
I hope I understand what you are talking about.
If it has no aircon at all then you would need the whole lot. Compressor/evaporator/tx valve/drier and hoses. I believe that would only be available from a wreckers unless you have big bucks and can buy it from Toyota in parts.
Then the system would have to be installed, vacuated by a fridgy and gassed. You would have to buy a new drier as
well.
Maybe a vehicle fridgy will be able to answer this better on the availability of parts and cost.
Hope you find your answer here, if not try LCOOL landcruiser site.

Gaz,
forgot to add that the Troopy air con you are after, will be from 1985 to the 1st month of 1990. This is because of the change from the 2H motor to the 1HZ after the 1st month of 1990.

We bought a Toyota Hiace van with no a/c and I got quotes to retro fit it from these guys :
http://www.autocool.com.au
It was about $2,000 for the van (2 years ago). They use new parts where possible and recon or used ones where they are not available. They did the research in to parts availability and price. I think only some hoses / ducting were going to be used parts.
Didn't end up doing it though, so can't comment any further.
As the Troopy has not changed much you may be ok on the availability of parts too.
Regards
Mark.

A location would be a good starting point?
It all depends how smart the guy or girl you speak to is and how much experience they has at installations.
There are two ways of doing......
One......
Buy a complete kit from the wreckers or secondhand and hope and prey it's OK as it can be costly if something fails after it has be installed..... if going this way I would recommend changing the TX valve, Receiver drier (has to by law), pressure testing all components, cleaning all components and flushing all components.
The down side of this is if the compressor, hoses and line, condenser or evaporator starts leaking or fails after the installation it can become a costly.
Two.....
Buy only the evaporator and evaporator box as above and have the compressor, engine mount kit, condenser and hoses supplied new with aftermarket..... this is the dearest option but the cheapest and most reliable in the long term.
The advantage of this is most is new and of better quality, design and more efficient.
Expect $1200 to $2000 plus the price of the kit from the wreckers for option one and $2500 to $3500 plus the price of the evaporator and box from the wreckers for option two.
