I,m in the market for a GU 4.2 cab chassis and would be interseted in any comments regarding series 1 or 2, ST or DX. I know the series 1 chopped out fifth gear and the series two has more torgue but would I necessarily discount the series one. Paps.

G'day, probably can't go wrong with either. If 5th gear was going to go, it would have by now, so discount that. The intercooler on the series 2 is an after thought and is actually the cooler from the 2.8 TD and as such is way too small and restrictive, a few alternatives available. Easy to intercool the early one if required.
Depending on proposed duties, ie load to be carried, you may want to look at the leaf sprung rear model, greater GVM. An option for the leaf rear is to fit an auxiliary coil
suspension, gives a far better ride when empty.
I only sold my leaf sprung ute as I needed more seats. Good luck with your search, they are very difficult to find.

Have just put a deposit on an 06 td42ti. Are there any common issues with these that can leave you stranded (injector pump electrics?)that can be prepared for? Cheers Paps.
