Hi All,

I'm looking for advice on water bladder brands.

I have a 10lt MSR Dromadery but they are too expensive and I had a look at the 27lt bladders at Opposite Lock which look okay. Wine cask bags are not appropriate. After a topic search I could see the last discussion about water bladders on this forum was 2005.

So I'm wondering if you can tell me about new brands of good quality light weight collapsible water bladders up to 50lts capacity?

(To be carried on a trekking cart)

Cheers

I have a 75L that fits in behind the front seats....good if you have no passangers or kids that are still in baby seats. I have had it for many years and it has not missed a beat. It's made by flexitank and you can find them here Water Bladder

I had one of those, Troll, and I wasn't so lucky. There was an unavoidable kink in it when in use in my Prado - ie a smooth fold (not a sharp crease) that ended in a kink that could not be made to go away. It sprang a leak at that point after two outings in two years. Always hung it up to store it, so I don't think I did anything wrong. It wasn't cheap and I wasn't impressed

Cheers

Hi Frank,

Bad luck I have had mine for around 4 years and it has not missed a beat. It gets used roughly every 3 months. I don't take any extra care with it to be honest and in the Patrol the seats push into it if I fill it to capacity.

I will have to give mine the once over after reading your post.

Frank P,
I had something like that happen in the hose of a backpack bladder from a big Aussie outdoors company and it turned out to be a random fault caused from poor packing and storage in the retailers. I'm still using it but I just need to squeeze the hose open each time I use it.
If I get this one I will know to check carefully for any smooth folds and kinks that may cause future problems.

Hey Guys, never heard of these bladders, would be very interested in a bit more knowledge on them, as i have a 2'nd hand van and was going to do a change of tank or clean out as well as having a water container in the van for drinking.
With the bladders what is the water like drinking wise, and what mantience is necessary. What costs are in purchasing one.
Hope you don't mind my questions..

Terra,

Have a read of this thread from 2007 there is mention of a company in Brisbane that will make one to suit the size you need.

I have a 35lt flexitank from TJM. Have it under the second seats in a GQ and hasn't missed a beat. I plumbed it in with a flowjet pump that sux the bladder down to get the water - very easy.

Had it for 3 years without a prob. Wrapped it in rubber to protect it under the seat.
