My daughters hilux has given 4 quick high beeps on about 4 occassions. No lights with it and only the quick 4 beeps. Anyone know what this is? I've turned of seatbelt beep. Higher and quicker than that anyway.

hey twinkles, you dont say when it does it ,where it comes from or how old the hilux is but
mine is an 07 diesel and it emits a long beep from the engine bay each time i switch it off. Toyota told me a few beeps are normal and unless a light is on dont worry about it. Sounded like bull to me but i have 170000k on it now and still no probs

It's an 06 Hilux and none of the above the answer. It happens while being driven. Once going hard through Black Spur, winding road. Other times towing large trailer.

Has it got stability control? If so it's that.

If this happens when turning the alarm on it usually indicates a door
or bonnet has been left open.
Check all the door and bonnet switches for correct operation.
If it happens after the car has been sitting for awhile it might be a warning alarm. Cars fitted with microwave movement sensors have two alarm levels, if
someone gets close to the car and touches it it will give a few warning chirps
to tell them to move away. If you put a hand through an open window then the alarm will go into full warning mode and sound and flash lights.
In the second case if the sensitivity is set to high, trees braches moving near the car, people walking past, wind, rain etc will set it off.
To test walk around the car keeping a couple of centimeters away from the car and the alarm should not sound. Ran your hands down a window and it should.
Cheers

Check if it's the
water in the fuel filter alarm.Maybe there is just enough in it to sound now and again.

This was the one I was thinking it might be. Is there a light for this too?

Yes it's the small symbol on the right hand side of the timing chain light. It's not hard to take off the fuel filter and drain it out .It can't hurt and is good to do it now and again anyway.
