Hi,I have electric brake problems.normal driving is ok,but when I have to apply them after about 4 or 5 times at very low speed the left wheel locks up.the right side is ok.Very embarrasing in suburbs.anybody have any suggestions?

Been there done that !
Firstly try adjusting the brakes on your van, evenly as this is usually why they are grabbing, on one side more than the other.
The best way is to jack up one wheel, adjust the clisker 1 or 2 notchhes at a time, or until the wheel will only spin about 1/2 a revolution, then back it off 1 notch.
Have a serious look at the way in which you have set your controller.
I had a Tekoncha Voyager and found that backing the course adjustment off, and the fine up a bit more it gave me a more gentler application, and no more skidmarks anywhere.
When all else fails better pull the brakes apart, and check for wear.

Have you recently changed out any parts? If so it can also be an alignment issue. Its more prevalent on the older vans. When I fit new pads etc I need to loosen of the 4 nuts holding the assembly adjust the pads out so they lock then do the bolts up thus aligning the assembly.

As brake gets hot it binds up, if drum, remove drum and clean (careful of dust)
Check that hand brake cable is not binding. Check magnets are free and not worn. If you find nothing then readust shoes by turning star wheel till shoes just starts to rub on drum then back of a few clicks.
Easiest fix if you don't wish to do above is to just back of the star wheel a little at a time on the drum that is locking up until both
wheels lock at the same time.

If you have had the drums off, you should adjust them until the wheel locks up, that will ensure that the brake shoes are centered. Just adjusting until they drag won't!

Type and brand of controller could also be a prolem as could different electrical cable length to the brakes.

Hi there Rodex, Many people above have given some good advise & have more than likely in some cases identified your problem.
But, at the risk of critisizim, unless you are qualified to do so & in the interest of your own safety get a brake mob to check the problem out. That way you will have peace of mind & it usually is a small cost to pay. Good luck & safe travelling

You did not say what brake controller you have . Most electric brake controllers have adjustments. The adjustments mean that it reduces the number of volts that go to the brakes so if your controller is putting out 12 volts it will skid the
wheels so i would adjust the controller down a few volts this is via a lever, button or electronics like i have.
The tekumshia has 3 settings and you can press a button to go from different setting no 1 set at 5 volts no 2 set at 10 volts no 3 set at 12 volts all these can be adjusted up or down it deepens where you are driving

As only one wheel is locking I wouldnt sugest turning down the controler.
