I may be able to get two Tyredog 4 sensor systems at a good price, so if I was to put two sensors on the trailer plus the two spares would they transmit back to the cabin?

They may do but reception could be a bit patchy. We used a hard wired receiver situated at the rear of the vehicle to facilitate reception from the trailer wheels. You can puerchase it from the distributer Zylux Industries.

I have a 6 wheel Tyredog kit. I don't have a relay unit and have no reception problems from my trailer wheels. They're about 5m from the windscreen unit.

Well, I don't think I do. All wheels are displayed, but one consistently under-reads by a large margin.

Is that a reception issue or a sensor issue? Sounds more like sensor to me, but not prepared to pay $100 for a test sensor on a trial-and-error basis.

I don't think so Bearded fish - Have described before there are traps in these things which makes them appear better than they are.

Not entirely sure but you should also check the following statement - The spares in a 4 sensor Tyredog system are unique to each location and do not represent additional channels you can receive - The writeups on them are ambiguous so get a clear statement about this before you jump in.

Robin,

I have had some sensors replaced under warranty. They are "learnable" (their term) Ie, they or the receiver can be taught which position they are in. Maybe the same for the provided spares.

They don't learn in that way Frank

You order a spare for a given wheel position and each spare has its own ID number , the system has to learn or remember the new ID number , not for the wheel position but so that it won't read one from another car.

The reason for this is that unless your receiver aerial is within site of the sensor then it picks up the weakess of signals from your car - and this signal can be overidden by another car passing up to 100m away.

I have a 6 sensor Tyredog system on a 100 series LC towing an Ultimate trailer. The trailer sensors work well without having a repeater/relay. With the two 4 sensor systems you may get some radio frequency interference between the different units.
These sensors measure the tyre pressure accurately, but because the sensor are at the end of the valve stem, they measure the temperature at the end of the valve stem and not the temperature of the air in the tyre or the tyre itself.
If you relax at a faster pace you can get more relaxation in for a given time.

Hi
I also have a 100 series with a Tvan and use the 6 system without a repeater. Never had any trouble with reception.
Cheers
