Love my Australian movies and Red Dog is no exception. Perhaps it's because we can relate to many of the
places or because we all know someone just like the characters in the movie.
Many Australian movies attract interest from overseas and I'm sure many potential overseas tourists immediatley check these movie locations to see what they have to offer.
I did exactly that - checked the map. What a pleasant surprise when I Google Map searched
Dampier WA....some interesting names for the islands. Take a look and see what I mean.
Fab.

I'm guessing someone got slapped while trying to enter Mistaken Island.

You're correct Fab72. Red dog is a great film. I'll have a look at what you've suggested.
We went to
Dampier yrs. ago. We got the book Red Dog after we saw his statue.
Poor dog poison is cruel.
Take care, safe travels.
Bye, Ma.

Yeah amazing movie really cos these Aussie flicks are do it
well, with the character narrated stories, similar to
Red Hill. Red Dog and
Red Hill are both great movies that do a good job of portraying the Aussie Outback lifestyle, love the tin pub scenes in Red Dog. Amazing dogs..

I drive past the statue most days when i take the dogs to
the beach and the statue seems to have become even more popular since the movie with the amount of people stopping to pose with Red Dog increasing. Another great Aussie film keep them coming.

Great movie and pretty accurate, with a few minor exceptions throw in to make it more acceptable for viewers. I lived up there from 1976 through to 1987 and knew the smelly mutt by name and nature.
It was a good part of the world to be in at that time in life.
