Navman Escape

Does anyone have any review of the Navman Escape. Sounds OK and not a bad price especially if you trade in your old Navman on the Navman website.

Haven't tried it and was waiting myself for it to be available BUT then i was able to confirm with Navman that like the 75 and 85 models it does NOT turn off when you turn the car off. You have to turn it off yourself and if you don't it remains on like a big torch in your car overnight flattening its battery and just telling all the car thieves to come get it...which to me is just plain dumb. Now off my buy list.

Search navman on this forum and the caravanning forums and you will get varying reports. We purchased the MY75 in March this year and did 4 months away around Aust and was not just disappionted but disgusted at the quality of both the unit and the navteq maps that are loaded. We emailed a very detailed report to both Navman and navteq listing pages of map and unit faults, the worst of which included 3 lockups where the unit totally froze with no notice and all software and maps had to be reloaded (bit hard when you are in the middle of no where with no internet access). Navteq maps were in error for hundreds of kilometers with major landmarks on the wrong side of roads, towns in the middle of nowhere that didn't exist and even gps data positions upto hundreds of metres out(WGS84 datum used) Do you think they even gave us the curtosey of a reply NO. So try the Navman Escape at your own peril. I don't own one so can't report on it but if its like the MY75 I would look else where. What sort of price are they as the MY75 has been advertised in the last few weeks around $170 ( we paid over $300)

Sorry saw the navman website shows $449 with trade in. Must be getting a few trade ins as they are selling factory remanufactured units of various models on the catch of the day website this week.
