Are they any good and do they stack-up against BFG 's ?
Would be grateful for any advice.

C'mon dude, be a devil and be the first on the
forum to try them out and report back to us what they are like.
If they are no good I'll definitely place them on my not to buy list.

Wrangler Armortrac Tyres. ???? where are you getting them from ? only on USA tyre dealers.. Or do you mean Duratrac .
http://www.goodyear.com.au/dotCMS/TyreDetailAction?website=GYR&websegmentcode=RV&websegmentcode2=&mtpcode=00783&from=nPerPage... I would buy the good years tyres before BFG any day. I had the MTR wranglers on my last 4WD and they were the best tyres I have ever used IMO . I also have used the older Wrangler A/T on a 4Runner also very good. I have used BFG on a Patrol and had puncture after puncture with them , waste of space IMO. Ray

In my very humble opinion, I think Goodyear have gone backwards with their 4x4 tyres. Ever since the Wrangler MTRs came out, thats all I have used. Never staked a side wall ,no punctures out in the bush, and were the most reliable tyres I have ever used in 40 years of four wheel driving. Now they have released the new Wrangler witht Kevlar and the price made me gulp and take a breath of air. Hellish expensive and I dont believe as good as the old MTRs. I still have about 10,000 km left on my MTRs and after that I havent got a clue what I`ll be buying next The new Wrangler with Kevlar is a directional tyre so thats out of the question personally for my use. As age is catching up the mind is willing but the body complains for few days afer going bush. So what to get. Maybe either of the following : Mickey Thompson FC11, ProComp ATs , General Grabber AT2 or Maxxis Bravo ????? - price wise all around the $280 as I mainly use my fourby on the black top with the occasional foray onto
the beach

I trashed more of the old MTRs with sidewall stakes than i can remember cost me a small fortune
so far no issues with the new MTRs in that regard so maybe the kevlar does work
the old 3 ply polyester in the old ones were weak as piss

Mine are not the Kevlar range as I refuse to pay over $400 for a 31.x10.5 x15 . On my fourth set of MTRs with Durawall Technology and Puncture Resistant written on the side wall and to day after over 140,000 km and no staking or punctures I must be something right. ( 6 ply rating ) Only place left for me to go and see is
Cape York next year, otherwise I have done just about everything there is to see and do and I`m now getting past the stage of standing on the end of a shovel or looking for a place to connect the end of the winch. Its time in due course for the 4x4 to go and a
sedan to get us to the shops and back. If I want to go bush my kids can take us - thats if they are willing to put up with the two oldies.

We use the silent armours on our TD V8 landcruiser ute fitted with an obeico service body and 3700kg GVM upgrade. We use them on a similar 3lt TD Nissan Patrol also. We use them off road in all conditions and find them great. We have never had a puncture with them to date 3rd set of vehicle's and tyres.
The vehicles are disposed of at 75 to 80000km (every 2.5 years) and are on their original set of tyres. We do run 2 spares (6 in total) and these are rotated every 10000km. By doing this we easily see 80000+ km from a set.
They are not that crash hot in sticky mud (fine in the slushy stuff) or clay but are fantastic in 90% of conditions, we use the winch for the rest.
Regards
Jas
