Gidday all,
Want to buy a set of roof bars to go on the Hilux ('03 dual cab). Don't want to bolt them on the roof, only a gutter mount. Will only be putting the shovel, Max traxx and an awning onto it.
Currently leaning towards Rhino.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Greg

I put a set of Rhino's on my Rodeo ( no gutters ) for recent trip from
Rockhampton to
Perth and return via Plenty Hwy & Great Central Rd . Only carried extra spare tyre up there and had no problems . I note that their warranty paperwork said they were not covered on unsealed roads but they seem to be
well constructed and I wouldnt have any hesitation using them again on gravel roads to carry light loads .

Hi Greg,
I recently tested out a set of RAK roofracks on the CSR and
Kimberley, and they held up very
well. I needed the gutterless type to fit my vehicle.
I had another
well-known brand for a previous trip that required daily inspection and tightening.
Check out RAK
here
Cheers,
Geoff

I've got a set of Pro-rack 'whispbars' on the d-max - gutterless type.
currently have a roofbasket on these with some lightweight items (tarps, boogie boards, matts etc) in a roof bag, as
well as spare 5l gennie fuel and a small trolley jack. I have all this as we have been travelling around for the last 10 weeks over all sorts of terrain (incl off road) and covered 14000kms to date. Not one issue with the bars. When at home, I leave the bars on and remove the basket. Good thing with these bars is that they are quiet, given they are wing shaped. Got them at supercheap, they quite often have 20% off with these. Repco are now stocking these instead of rhino apparently
cheers
Mark

Another vote for RAK. They're better, cheaper (you buy from the manufacturer) and more versatile (expand to fit your next vehicle) than the others. We've had a double kayak on three bars for six years and they're still good as new.
