Where are you at. Already spent 480 on it putting new bearings in and wasn't amused to find it was just as noisy as when i put it in to be fixed.

Yes
Wollongong, if your gears are worn too much a certain way, they wont run quiet at all. If you pull it back out, a bit of bearing blue on the teeth will see where the contact patch is (if it has been set up wrong) or whether the gears are worn abnormally.

He blued the gears and said that the wear was minimal and I would get away with it. He admits that perhaps he was over optimistic and has offered to fit a crown and pinion with no charge for labour. All I need to do is track down either a bargain new one or decent second hand
