Instead of having 3 batteries it has been suggested to replace the 2 starting batteries with bigger batteries so the 1st battery will start the car and then using and isolator switch the frige etc can run off the 2nd battery. I was advised that if I put in the 3rd battery it has to be orbital as it sits over the electrical wiring harness and could cause damage. Has anyone tried either method? Any advice?
Thanks :)

If you have not done so already, jump on the LCOOL
forum. There are heaps of threads on this issue there.
Cheers,
Dave

I have done exactly that with my 200 series Cruiser. The left side battery was replaced with a 780cca Supercharge battery, the right side battery is now only used for the running of accessories such as fridge and CB etc. I have a Redarc voltage sensative relay fitted between the two batteries which also supplies power to the caravan via an Anderson plug.
With the use of suitable size cables, and the fitting of a suitable switch to the 'loose' wire on the Redarc relay, this system can also be used as a 'jump start' should the starting battery fail.
I also used this system on my previous vehicle, a 100 series TD Cruiser.

Thanks Athol W. I think I will go with this method as it is only the 2 batteries rather than 3. Your jump start idea is awesome. I will ask my auto electrician to do that as
well. Thanks for the info. :)

I have done the same in my 200, been like that for over 3 years and it works a treat. As others have said, take a look at LCOOL.org and there is heaps of good advice/ideas for the 200.
Cheers
