Hi all
Been a member since 2003 and it has been great to see the site and it's resources evolve into the valuable resource it is today, particularly with the refresh that David is pushing along.
I was reflecting the other day how and where I would be trimming the belt for retirement and have been looking critically at some memberships that perhaps are not as valuable to me today as they were historically. Some decisions have been made to discontinue whereas others like VKS 737 will be maintained. As a future retiree I hope to have more interaction with their service than the annual contact that arises these days....hopefully!
Now David and Michelle, I was wondering whether you could give some thought to an arrangement that could facilitate the conversion of long term members to life members without the need for a significant $$ investment. There are many permutations and combinations here but it might help to retain long term members
well beyond what would normally be anticipated. Perhaps some recognition after 10 years?? I appreciate this is a matter for you guys as owners but I would see this as a great offering going forward, particularly given the risk of us dropping off the perch increases as we age!!
Cheers, Leigh

Hi Leigh,
We have been members for six years and have been very pleased with the benefits that come with
membership and use of this site. Bearing in mind that its owners make their living by running this site we shouldn't ask for too much, but maybe some further inducement to lifetime
membership could be worth considering.
I would like to see an arrangement whereby points are earned when one contributes to the site - by making or answering
forum posts, putting up
blogs, contributing to treks,
places etc, and being one of the behind-the-scenes volunteers who do such a great job. Points could count towards
membership or lifetime
membership. If such an arrangement was technically feasible (David seems to be a wiz in that area!) I think it would be a win-win situation.
Just my 2 bobs worth...
Cheers,
Val

He's already bloody got one...and he was crap at answering the quiz questions. We even gave him a stubby holder because we felt sorry for him!!!! (Mind you Leigh, we consider you a much better bloke than John ;-)
Mate, I've contributed a bit to the site over the past 6 years or so and will continue to do so. When the opportunity came to purchase a "lifetime"
membership some years back I jumped at it because I considered it a rather small investment for the facilities and functions provided (ie the blog site in). Web hosting is a damn site more expensive than hosting 300
blogs on EO and the exposure is a whole lot more. I have had some amazing opportunities present themselves through this site and even bigger ones in 2012 (I'll tell you later) and have met some amazing people to travel with and who I consider amongst my truly great friends (Not you Outback lol).
LTM on EO is, in my considered opinion, value for money in this day and age my friend, value for money!
