G'day,
I know some people love 'em and others hate 'em but I was looking at getting one. I don't think jacking points will be an issue for a 60 series. I was wondering which brands I should steer clear of and which brands represent good value for money. Is there any difference between brands or are hi-lifts much of a muchness?
Cheers,
Justin

ARB sells the original Hi Lift i bought mine at the 4wd show in Melb for $100 normally about $150.
If you are in Melbourne go see ARB Northern and haggle for a deal you will get the price down I am sure.

I carry one as it at least gives me options.
The day you don't have one is the day you wish you did.
And that day will make all the times you did carry it and think to yourself I have never needed this thing why do I carry it worth it.

The more gear you carry the more options you have to help yourself, that what I call peace of mind.

I know they are argued about on this forum quite a bit but used carefully they are a bonus.

Options you never have enough.

Regards
John

Yeah, I agree with you John. I bought a Hi lift, which is an American made item, about 20 years ago. I use it maybe once a year...but then I need it. Paid about $85 for it then. It is bolted to the bullbar and takes a couple of minutes to remove. In addition I carry a Bullbag, Bottle jack(windup type), Trolley jack, and the winch of course. These days I steer clear of trouble but had to use the winch and the Hi lift a few weeks ago after an indiscretion whilst driving up a creek.

Cheers,

Willem

Justin, as with the other replies from our experienced friends - the day you need it is the day you wish you had it. If you have the room to store one the you may as well get one. Just make sure you know how to SAFELY use it.

it is great if you know how to use it . I use mine to take the weight off and then use my original jack to lift the wheel off the ground . I also use it as a clamp, a hand winch , and best of all , to jack a car out of a rut & then to kick the car off the jack onto solid ground . I tried a exaust jack in mud & could do crap with it . Then some tells me that they are ausom on sand. Venus Bay

Justin,
Mounting the Hi lift is the important bit in my opinion, as mentioned before, I've tried mine just local to where I live on relatively safe ground and nearly ripped bits of trim off or threatened to dent a panel, you can buy special fittings that make things a lot safer, best to fit these before you set off. Bull bag is great in sand.Keep the shiny side up
