There are a number of old archived threads referring to Projecta battery chargers. Can some of those members that have had Projecta chargers for some time give me an update on how they have performed and details of model, battery type and battery size.

Cheers,

We've had a 25 amp charger in the Oka for over 12 months now and it has performed perfectly, it is only used when the truck is in the shed as we leave the fridge on permanently. When outside the 500w of solar keep the 480ah of batteries charged, we can camp indefinately as the solar easily handles all loads including the electric jug, toaster and breadmaker.

I forgot to add that I chose the Projecta for its ability to choose battery type and the remote head which enables the charger to be mounted out of sight and still operated easily.

X 2 for projecta 25 amp charger, can charge anything from 10 Ah to 500 AH as it's adjustable to what rate of amps you charge at from 2 to 25 amps and will charge any type of battery. makes it a no brainer really.

I had the Projecta 25A charger with remote head in my AORC Quantum and it died on me when I did the GCR. It was replaced by AORC under warranty, but was replaced with a CTEK 25A charger. Apparently they have had many Projectas fail so have now moved away from them due to the failures - all AORC campers now have Ctek instead of Projecta chargers.

When the Projecta was working, it was great and having the remote head was handy - the Ctek doesn't have this option AFAIK.

I have the 25 Amp Projecta. I replaced a 10 Amp one as I have 2 x 100 AH Gel batteries to charge. The charger works well and I, too, chose it over the Ctek as it has the remote head (the charger is in a cupboard and the remote is fitted where I can see it and use it) and it allows me to change settings. The Ctek does not allow any changes to anything and has no screen so you have no idea what it is doing.

Just call me a control freak...

Projector chargers seen to have a strong following and has many good usable features like the remote display, however I find a comprehensive display pointless unless you have some understanding of battery charging..... to much information to some can become overpowering.

Projector uses one of the many manufacturing companies in china to manufacture their chargers making quality control and circuit design out of their control..... even that they say it is made to their specs, what part of the specs is their's.... price?

Ctek is the charger we prefer, easy to use, idiot proof and good construction.

Ctek do design their own chargers and manufacture either in the USA or China at their company owned facilities making quality control and circuit design under their total control.

End of the day a good battery charger is a good battery charger and if your into splitting hairs one may be better then the other.

If your buying on price get the Projecta, if buying on quality by a Ctek.

So much negativity. Surely you can't beleive "uses one of the many manufacturing companies in china to manufacture their chargers making quality control and circuit design out of their control..... even that they say it is made to their specs"?
There are many australian companies much larger than Projecta, with an 'a', having their products manufactured in China to their specs. Do you think the quality and specifications of their products is suspect. I think not.
You've convinced me, Projecta is the way to go.
