Hello I have a caravan that I want to fit a split system reverse cycle air cond on. I wish to use a honda Eu 20i to power it. Does anyone know what would be the best split system air cond I could use which the Honda will be able to handle?

Appreciate any feed back.

Regards

Micky

Mickey,

a common question on the forum. You'll find much of what you're looking for in this search result thread.

Generator for airconditioner

And before you buy anything, try it out on the van first, to be sure, to be sure, to be sure.

A Honda 20i will run ANY split system you would ever want to run in any caravan.

They do struggle on a 40+ deg day (just when you want a/c) with the dinosaur roof mounted, power hungry, noisy & inefficient Dometic style van a/c's.

Most splits of van size in fact will hapilly run on a 1kw Honda.

hi micky our van has a truma climaster reverse cycle air con. under the seat which the honda 20 runs without any problems. i cant really comment on its cooling/heating performance as we havent used it in very hot or cold conditions as yet.

The generator rated output is 1600 Watts, it should therefore be able to run a "soft start" split upto 1.6KW

If you thinking non invertor type units I wouldn't go above 1KW.

G'day Mickey,
I think you are going about this back to front.
If you are just accumulating potentially useless trinkets than go right ahead.
If you want to realy aircondition your van than I suggest you go & find out exactly what size & type of aircon you need first & then from there find out what size & type of power supply you need to properly run that system.
What would be the use of having an aircon that doesn't work when it is hot?
I don't know Jack Sh-t about airconditioning vans & the aircon you can run off a Honda 2.0 might be suitable.
But you will be wasting your money if it is not.
