Duck up the Buchan Caves and have a look. Not too far from Lakes Entrance.

Hi David and Michelle,

some places you might wish to consider visiting;

Nyermilang Park: link

Take a cruise on Lake Tyers and hear about the history of glass making and the Lake Tyers Mission.

Take a cruise on the Gippsland Lakes on the Thunderbird.

Surf The Bluff at Lake Tyers Beach.

Fish in the rivers or off the beach.

Visit the Lakeside towns of Paynesville and Metung.

Shop in Bairnsdale.

Buchan Caves is a must and you can camp their too. Enjoy your stay in our beautiful part of the World.

Oh. and have a pie from the Bruthen Bakery on your day trip to Omeo.

TJ.

Ps. where are you heading after LE?

If you are heading up the coast I would highly recommend turning right in Cann River and heading down to Point Hicks in Croajingalong National Park.The Thurra or Mueller River Campgrounds are isolated, beautiful and a tour of the lighthouse is a highlight.

Gday,

Lake Tyers is a great place to camp with a young family. Remember to keep your spear guns packed away, they are illegal in the waters surrounding (check fisheries site). Great fishing in the lake as well.
Camp down the trident track or a couple of other tracks nearby, don't camp at the glasshouse area with your dog as paralysis ticks are in these areas particularly in the tea trees near the beach. Use Advantix or similar and check your dog over daily especially in and around the ears, collar, tail and its privates. I lost my best little mate to these nasty buggers after camping here a few years back.
Hope this helps
