Hi. Can anyone assist me with this one?

I am keen on the Weber Baby Q but can't work out where to store it whilst travelling in the caravan.

It seems just too big to fit in the front boot (at H350mm, W690mm) and I really would prefer not to keep it inside the van because of the potential for smells.

If anyone out there has a Baby Q could you please let me know where/how you pack it?

Thanks

Steve

We pack our Baby Q in the front boot of our Paramount Duet and we just take the top off, wrap it in an old towel and it packs away fine. Wouldn't be without it now.

That's a good idea.. didn't consider removing the lid.
I think we'll give that a try.

Thanks for that thought!

I carry my Baby Q in the back of the 'Cruiser in a plastic fish box (perfect fit) when travelling and have made up a stand for it which secures in the jockey wheel fitting on the A frame, connects to the gas bottle right there and you're in business, all very handy.

The plastic box was a line I considered - not thought about the bracket to the jockey wheel fitting though.
Something esle for me to play around with.

Mine sits atop a milk crate in the Triton tub, the crate contains all manner of things too.

One suggestion however you carry - tie a short occy strap or similar around the handle to secure the lid to the body (when closed of course). If not done the lid can rattle enough to crack it.

DAMHIK!

Cheers Neil

Thanks Neil... point also noted.
Where would we be without occy straps and duct tape?

Just carry it as is. I took mine around Tassie for 5 weeks and didn't have an issue with smell yet it was stored in the back of my 4by.

When I cook on the BabyQ I use a Weber trivet and put alfoil underneath the trivet. When I have finished cooking I throw away the alfoil and quickly clean the trivet. This way the the base plate gets virtually nothing on it so no smell from any of the parts.

Hi Holden4th,

Do you cook steak, sausages etc on trevette? If its anything like mine u wouldn't get more that a steak a couple of sausages on it. I only use trevette for roasts with the foil underneath as you mentioned, works a treat.

Cheers

We have the tunnel locker arraignment and it fits in that with a heap of other gear

( Remind me to remember to fit the fishing rod holders in there some time too, before I forget again :- )

On another forum they were using the silicone BBQ liners on the grill of the Webber Qs. Apparently they work and can be cleaned with a rinse off and wipe down.

I plan to buy one when next I see them and try it out.

Grease proof paper will do the same as the silicone except you throw it in the bin a whole lot easier.

Cheers.

I carry ours in the van, tunnel boot not big enough, no room in the back of the car.

I found at the Reject Shop, a zip up sports bag, just big enough to fit the Baby Q. Also has room in it for the cooking tools and gas hose.
