I have asked the Moderators if they can keep thread # 90598 at the top of the page so that all will get the chance to see it and respond it they so desire, otherwise by Xmas day it will many pages back. I reckon its a great idea they have come up with.
Fred.

Gee - It actually worked first time. I decided after reading your request and being hit over the head by ModSquad that I should look at Sticky again and by gingoes it worked first time easily. This is mainly due to major updates in the
forum database code that we installed several months ago but we now have stickies. I will create a small image to put against this in the list.
So the upside is that stickies now are support and working. I have to adjust all the management software but this will be done.
Good suggestion Fred thanks.

Hi David. While we are talking improvements and new ideas, with the banner of photo's at the top of the mail page, the photo's are great but could there be a tag of the bottom of the photo's say where there were taken. Just a thought.

Esarby,
I do not have all the information for the images we are currently using but the idea is good. How would you guys like to submit some more of these images to us for inclusion in the system and then you could place a small text caption at the bottom of the images. The specifications for the image are 3000x135 pixels. So what we did was grab a selection of photos reduce and crop them down to 135 and then paste them into a new image of the total size. We are looking for some more of these to add to the system and would be happy to accept submissions (we may or may not be able to all submissions but if you are keen we will certainly see if they will work and add them to the scheduler).

I would like to see the "BUMP" principle used by ExplorOZ as a popular topic should stay on the main page if it is generating interest. You only get a small window to reside on the front page and thats why people end up repeating common questions or requests for advice. It is used by most other forums and seems to work
well.

Terra, you can make that window 25 50 or 100 threads so you may be able to look out your bay window at EO rather than the little one in the Loo!

Tera, on the main
forum page change the sort by to response time view - this is exactly the same as BUMP.

I am not fully in favour of the sticky option.
There is another 4WD
forum that has a thread on the 4PSI rule and something about a good bloke. They have been there for ages. I cannot say if they have been updated or even read recently. Even when the
forum is sorted in "update" mode they stay there.
Maybe the sticky would be fine but surely how many months and weeks do they stay there. Who makes the decision to let them slide. Should we watch a popularity or a "Like" (yuk - hate that term) flag or counter.
Do you want to look after them David. Not me, as so far I am not interested in, for argument sakes, the 4PSI rule so how would I judge the "lifetime" of the glue. What if I go to God (you are hopefull Phil). Who would know. I do not know anyone on this
forum socially so who would know I am "wented". And I guess the moderators have enough to do. So we end up with pages of stickies.

I sort of agree Phil but understand this
forum unlike some is fully managed and has management and moderation users connected a lot of the time. I hate stickies that are there for the sake of it and I can assure you it will not be happening here. In this case we have a single post about XMAS that is best kept to the top of page 1 to allow people to interact in the lead up to XMAS. This is all and there are no other plans for anything to be stuck in the future however if they are they will not stay for long. Maybe a current competition or something but there will NEVER (I repeat NEVER) be a thread let sticky for any length of time unless for a bloody good reason (which I cannot think of at the moment).

My idea behind the thought was to ensure that all Xmas wishes usually passed around between us, are kept to the one thread, and not clutter up the
Forum with umpteen threads as has been the case. Makes it much easier and more fun, for everyone to be involved and interact under the one thread, which may just become the biggest ever, by the time Santa squeezes down your chimneys. :-))) in 12 sleeps time.
That's if you've been good boys and girls LOL.
Fair enough concern you raised there, Phil, but I think D & M run a much better ship here, than that "Other" one you mentioned.

I knew that Fred.
I was just contemplating the use of "sticky" threads. Thats all.
Carefull Fred. You will give D & M a big head. They are hard enough to deal with as is let alone any . . . . And D & M if you respond make sure its on topic.
