Hi. I have a 3.75m tinny which I will carry on an ALMAC 12V loader roof rack. I want to carry all the light bulky gear which goes on a fishing/camping trip in the boat (Crab pots, floats, 20l buckets, empty fuel tank, etc). The gear is loaded into the boat while it is on the ground, right way up before loading, but the boat is loaded into the usual upside down position on the rack. I have seen many boats packed in this way. Can I ask for suggestions on how other "roof toppers" have successfully restrained the gear in their boats so that it is secure, both when loading/unloading, and traveling.

Hi John,
Lots of cable ties and or ratchet straps, I have done 200k like this, it just pays to bye your cable ties by the 6 pack.

Hi
I have a 3.75 tinny on a Rhino rear boatloader.
I also have a Rhino basket fitted to the rear two roof bars in between the boat rack side bars.
This is used for all my bulky boat gear, I even put the fuel tank in it.

When the boat is loaded it cantilevers over the basket and drops over it then slides forward.

My only problem is if I have forgotten to put something in it after the boat is on !
but it works fine for me, for added security I just place a couple of bungy straps over the basket to stop any loose items moving or blowing out.

Hazo,I do the same, and I haven't lost a thing, much easier than doing it upside down in the boat.
It would make it pretty hard to handle the boat, full of gear, then there are the outback roads.
