Well everything is finally booked. I am taking James, my 6 year old son, on a surprise trip to Kangaroo Island over the Christmas/New Year break. It took a while, but I finally found some accomodation in Normanville the night before the ferry trip across. Spending four nights in Penneshaw and looking forward to touring the Island, even if it will not be for long. The ferry may have been a bit expensive, but I am sure it will be worth it.

I will let you all know how it goes.

G'day Glenn,

What a marvellous place - you will have a ball.

Just be careful on the gravel roads - they sare slippery, slippery, slippery.

Drive with due caution and you will have a great time.

regards

Agree 100% with Dennis. Those roads are loaded with marbles. Serious accident again yesterday on KI from a 4wd rollover. Take it easy.

Its a great spot - enjoy!

Hi Old Soldier and Phil G,

Thanks for the advice. I have no intention of rushing around. If I can't see it this time...I'll see it next time. Looking forward to it....and surprising James! hahahahaJust Do It!

You have not allowed enough time, we've been twice over 3 weeks and still haven't seen it all or taken time to cast a line.

I'll be back.

The roads aren't that bad, bitumen between major sites, corrugated pebble graded roads elsewhere but I stuck it in 4wd and had no trouble.

Had even more fun in October when some roads were flooded, got Terrano dirty without out having to buy spray on mud.

You'll love the place.

Russell

Half your luck! One of my all-time favourite places. Make sure you take young James pengiun spotting...use a torch at nightime to catch them coming home from a days fishing and during the day you might spot some baby pengiuns in their burrows above the beaches. Enjoy!

Hi Melissa,

Yes two things I am looking forward to showing James are the penguins in Penneshaw and the seals at Seal Bay...and also dropping a line off the pier.

Have a great Xmas and New YearJust Do It!

Absolutely awesome place. Make sure you go to Paul's place. It's a bit strange but very entertaining.

KI is my most favourite spot I've been on our round Oz trip so far (only 1/3 way through). It's a magical spot!!
Just becareful for wildlife while driving, there is so much of it everywhere including during the day. We almost hit an echidna at midday. Enjoy. What a wonderful surprise trip!!
