I need one for a chrisie present for the wife, but all I can find is the stick on type.

The type I am after clips onto the sunvisor and has a cover that slides over the mirror. The other type has elastic straps that go around the sunvisor.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try a glazier, tell him what you want. They are generally pretty inventive.

I have used glaziers a couple of times for replacing the glass in the external mirrors of cars I have had which have has the glass broken. They mesure it up and fit the new glass back in. Costs around $50 - $60. Beats paying $400 - $500 for a new mirror assembly.

G'day Alan

Sorry, I might not have been xlear enough.

The sunvisor does not hav a mirror at the moment.

I use to have one on the troopy sunvisor.
It's simply a clip on thing.

I have found one, but it is in the US.I'm hoping to get one in Australia.

Boo Boo, I did get the gist of what you were saying. I think my idea was one of last resort. Ebay is about midway on the descent to last resort. 2nd last idea on last resort list is that I used to purchase stick on rear vision mirrors with suction cups from the RACV when teaching my kids to drive. Not sure that "her outdoors" would approve. Mine certainly wouldn't. I think I would just go to wreckers and get another one with a mirror already inserted...or a better still new one from the car makers spare parts shop. If I did that my wife would say..."So you think I NEED one." etc

Good luck with your Christmas shopping.

Al

G'Day Boo Boo,
At the risk of getting my smarty pants all creased up, there are design rules around vanity mirrors in sunvisors and for a good reason too.

Imagine what would happen to your wife's face if you had an accident when the visor was in the down position? She wouldn't be too happy and I bet there would be a bit of guilt being carried on your behalf everytime you looked at her scarred face.

Mate...it aint worth it. Get a proper OEM replacement with one "built in" not stuck on. The mirror must be recessed into the sunvisor and there are regualtions about the thickness of the mirror to ensure it shatters under impact and not just fractures leaving razor blades behind.

Failing that...keep a $2 job in the glove box for special occasions.

Sorry to complicate a simple question.

Fab.
