Hi anyone had any experience with these vans?I'm looking for a 20' ensuite pop top,the only other one I can find is the Coromal 615 but they don't seem to have as much cupboard space as other pop tops I've seen so am thinking of having a Champion built.Any ideas please.Bev

The brand name was registered in Victoria on the 29/11/10, but I can't find any record of the company being registered.
My best guess is that the brand is made by another manufacturer.
Check the vans VIN Plate for the manufacturers name.

Champion have recently, Dec '11, opened a showroom in Craigieburn, Vic and are offering a two year warranty. They no longer use Condor Caravans as a manufacturer as they were not up to the standard that the owner wanted. Having said that I visited the Condor factory, in October, and thought the vans built were very good. I have a Little Maiya on order for Feb delivery.

So which company or companies are building them?
I'd certainly want to know before outlaying hard earned dollars.

Hello Ozjohn,
There are many caravan makers in Melbourne, many of whom I've never heard about, that we visited and thought that their work was very good. Some of the makers that I saw were not well known 5 years ago or even existed but now are known for their quality. Some one took the risk with them for them to become what they are today. The biggest caravan manufacturer in Australia has people who deride their quality and yet they still sell in vast quantities. I know that the caravan industry is not fully regulated and their are people prepared to take short cuts but most people take pride in what they produce. The person running the Champion name is one of those and I am relying on his reputation for a quality van.

That does mean that I do not know the makers, I do know that quality materials will be used in construction, e.g. G&S chassis, Dometic, Samsung, Simplicity suspension, Hitchmaster coupling etc...... The same materials used by most makers. I have not seen on any forum a list of approved makers who only make error free vans.

Ozjohn, I appreciate your comments but think that if we didn't give some of the newcomers a go then we wouldn't have that range of quality vans that we now have.

That's what they all use. Some of them assemble them well. Many others just lash them together with minimal or inappropriate sealants.

Bob.
While I'll agree that some of these companies building vans under dealer brand names make terrific products, many others are turning out crap, with the failure rate of newcomers being pretty high.
My question however remains unanswered. "Who makes them"?
The makers name must by law be on the vans VIN Plate.
Ozjohn.

PS> I agree with PeterD.
While most use quality parts, it's how those parts are assembled that makes a world of difference.

A quick search also reveals that neither of the companies/brands mentioned are members of the preeminent industry associations.
RVMAA and (CTIAV) Caravan Trade and industry Association of Victoria.
