We were getting between 22 to 26 litre per 100ks with the 2008 3 ltr crd auto Patrol towing our Lotus van.
We had the Patrol from new and found the fuel consumption very high.
Had a contaminated fuel problem on our last extended trip and got rid of the vehicle
before we had major problems, it had 30ks on the clock.
We purchased a 2010 4.8 litre petrol Patrol and the fuel consumption is around 18 litres per 100ks when towing.
Cheers

Something is drastically wrong for you to be getting 22 to 26 average from a 3ltr td.
Is that on average or a one off trip in head winds
I have a 2004 3litre towing 17.6 van and average 16 litres per 100ks. I know many people who have these and pull roughly the same figures as I do

It averaged 22ltrs per 100ks every time we towed caravans.
The 26ltrs per 100ks was when we had the fuel contamination.
We were looking at major work on the Common Rail System and Injector Pump.
We decided to spend the money on a new vehicle rather than keep a ticking time bomb.
The 4.8 ltr petrol is a lot better vehicle, it's like chalk and cheese in comparison.
My opinion is that the patrols are to much truck for little 3ltr motors.

Greetings, I have as ix year old Patrol like yours. Towing 3000kgn caravan We get much better economy from our 3 litre turbo diesel. You should be around 15 litres per 100 kms. You are getter worse economy than when we tow with a 7.3 litre F250. Good luck with finding the problem.

Is that consumption for the 4.8 petrol correct - 18 ltrs / 100klms whilst towing your caravan ?

Hello David , I have a 2000 model 3L manual Patrol and was using 16 to 17 L per 100 kms towing a 20 ft Jayco pop top . At 160,000 kms had to get pump and injectors done as had got dirty fuel somewhere so when it was being fixed got a chip in it as
well , now using 13.5 to 14 L per 100 kms and much better to drive . Hope you get a good run and better economy than some have stated .

Can't believe those figures, they are so high. I have a 3.0 Litre TD Hilux and tow a 25 Foot Pontoon (Approx 1.5 Tonnes) and get around 14L/100Km's. My combined city cycle and towing highway regime has me averaging 10.5L/100Kms over the last 12 months. If your not towing very often I suppose it doesn't matter but at 26 Litres I would be buying another vehicle.

The CRD Patrol has the worst fuel consumption of any 4wd wagon on the market at the moment. Overlander got 16.9 l/100k out of one this month - not towing - the other diesels doing teh same tests got 11-15 l/100k. Dazas figures are very believable.

The CRD are alot thirstier than the old DI Patrols.. I have a CRD 09 Patrol which I brought new and i get 16ltr/100kms around town. 14-15ltr/100kms on highway.. I towed my inlaws Australian Quantam Off roader on a 5000km round trip and didnt see any better than 22ltrs/100kms.. they are terrible on fuel which is very dissapointing.
Mine now has 55,000kms and the my hope of the fuel economy getting better as it loosens up has faded.. Very jealous when I read what the new 150series prados are getting..Only option now I think is to trade it so its someone elses problem...
