Hi guys,
Haven't posted on here for a while however i'm looking to spend about 40k on a new 4x4. My old 92' cruiser has had its day.
As i live in
Cairns i do quite a bit of offroad driving, however nothing hardcore. The Annual pilgrimage to the
Birdsville races a highlight of my 4x4 year!
Anyone got any personal recommendations for a 4x4 within this range. Doesnt have to be new, just a quality runner with lowish km. Utes are ok aswell, however wouldnt really use the tray for anything else than holiday luggage.
Ive been looking at the 06-07 model Patrols, just love em'.
Any advice and feedback much appreciated.

If you love Patrols then stick to the 4.2 diesel or the 4.5/4.8 petrol. The 3 litre diesel is too much of a risk. Other wise they are a good vehicle.

As mentioned above, you cant go wrong with a 06 07 Patrol and any engine except the 3.0L. My 2003 4.2TDI has 330,000 ks on it and absolutely nothing spent on it other than normal servicing. My biggest decision is when to change the original clutch.... it's still working fine.. Michael

Hard to believe a cruiser owner considering a patrol as a replacement, especially a 3 litre. So many of them have trouble it hardly seems worth the risk.
There are heaps of used 105/100 series in that price range, much better proposition than a hand grenade.

Gidday anthony w I don;t think he was considering the 3 LTR, He was just asking for suggestions, and i feel sure with the suggestions he has recieved he will scratch the 3 ltr of his list, However the 4.2 is a very good vehicle, forget the Toyota vs nissan debate. the toyo's are good yeah !! But so is the Nissan 4.2, and he would get a later model with more extra;s for less $$$$

Hi dazren, 4.2 nissan is a good vehicle for sure but when did they stop putting them in the patrols? Was it 05?
Be nice to have an auto too if you spend that much.
