Turbo Lux
Need some help with fitting or choosing rather a good reversing camera for the Lux, I have heard that the SR5 has the fitting in the back of the cd unit for a camera, not sure if this is true, it would be great to pull the head deck out and simple add fittings for the line to a reverse camera.
Otherwise was thinking about a GPS unit with camera for the rear, any suggestions on make and or models? I have seen an ARB unit that replaces the rear view mirror, not sure that this is a good option though?
thanks in advance

I've recently fitted an Xtrons double DIN head unit (bought from Hong Kong via Ebay).
This is the TD713 I bought for $200 delivered.
It has a Touch screen, bluetooth, SD reader, USB reader, Ipod control, Reversing camera, DVD/CD with outputs for remote screens. To use it it is
miles ahead of anything I've had before. I've hooked the reversing camera up to the reversing circuit so the screen automatically goes the the camera when reverse is selected.
They make the same thing with GPS and Aust/NZ maps, but it costs $362 delivered. I have no idea what the GPS is like.
Here's the link.
The video below tells you what it does.
I searched the local shops and found nothing like it. If you google XTRONS, you'll find their
forum where other owners will give you the good and bad.
Cheers
Phil

I have the MY11 SR5 and the cheapest way to do this is buy the harness for $28 from Toyota, buy your own camera that you want and install as follows: Mount camera and run power wires to your reverse light and splice in. (dont run back to the head unit as the output voltage from the headunit is only 6volts). Wire video wire to headunit. You dont need to remove the
seat just use the plug under the drivers
seat near the door and remove side step panel to access by putting hand under carpet. Remove head unit and plug in new harness. 20pin plugs join in series. Find the 4 pin plug on the harness and cut off the yellow and white - the red/black is 6 volts for the Toyota camera - dont use. Join the yellow to camera video white = camera neg or sheild. Connect the green reverse sence wire and mentioned by big red above. All should work, there are some settings on the headunit but by default they should be fine and no changes needed. All up around 1 hour and under $200 depending on your camera.
You need a NTSC (not PAL ) camera
