An update on my previous thread on the new Mahindra. Took delivery on 15/12 when all the bits & pieces were finished so on Sat 17/12 went for a run to
Cardwell to get to know her better. 6 hours behind the wheeel & only a little leg pain. First time for a long time. First bonus. Varied speed between 80 to 100 KPH & with the aircon working overtime averaged 10.2 lit/100k.
Friday was the big test when we left for home with the c'van in tow. With the bits & pieces at least 2 tonne in the tray & behind.Didn't push it. Just cruised between 75 to 90 KPH. T'ville to Charters Towers 15.6 l/100. Varied gearing between 4th (2800 rpm) & 5th (2100 rpm) but died on the hills in 5th. Late Friday stayed in 4th with the cruise control set for 90 kph & she just breezed along but you could hear the motor working on the hills. The run home today did the same wherever possible & she felt more comfortable with it. Not happy towing in 5th as have been told that 5th is basically a small overdrive gear & does not take to being worked hard.
Anyway Charters to home 480 km 16 l/100. Pretty happy seeing it is only a 2.2.litre motor.
Does anyone know a good 3.5 lit turbo deisel that the Indians can use to make this in my opinion a really good tow vehicle.. Bill

Hi Bill,
You should be pretty happy with those figures. It sure is a good feeling in a shiny new vehicle, Enjoy.
Regards
Mike.

G'Day Bill.
Just take it nice and easy fro the first 3000kms or so.
Personally (and maybe this is old school thinking), I'd be reluctant to do any heavy loading or towing during the run in period.
Keep the revs down and don't over burden the engine up hills etc and you'll have yourself a great touring partner.
Fab.
