What do you do with the old cartridges? The single use, non refillable type? As they're non- refillable there must be somewhere we can recycle them?

Most people who camp here put them in our garbage bins! Makes for interesting times when burning the rubbish!

If I see them before burning the rubbish then I put them to one side & put small .22 holes in them from about 50m away!

If there is a safe way to dispose of them then I'd love to hear of it.

Heres a bit of info, courtesy of GoogleHow to dispose of butane canister..
Apparently there is also a special tool to save on .22's - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/JETBOIL-CRUNCH-BUTANE-CANISTER-RECYCLING-TOOL-/260917020789?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cbfddc875 (sorry about not inserting link properly but the site isnt co-operating ATM). Its a butane canister recycling tool available on eBay for a few dollars. You learn something every day!

Cheers,

Val

Jeff ...........
One, we are not supposed to burn rubbish anymore .....
Two, we are not supposed to shoot rubbish any more .....
.
Three, that is exactly what we should do with it, at the end of the day it will end up out in the air and burnt, i dont really care what Bob Brown thinks of how it all will end up we now recycle everything and we have ten times more pollution, we dont burn anymore, we BURY it, we also PUMP water out from the ground and DRINK it after it has been through our filthy infested rubbish as a filter, idiots for thinking it is now safe eh, guess what someones used CONDOM is in that rubbish and YOU drink the water...... hahaha but i guess we now in some citys drink our own re-cycled peeewees...... Bear Gryles would be proud of us .........re-cycling ????? as if Bob ..
Cheers
Joe

Gday John
Just throw them in the fire as you leave camp and that will put the fire out .

I just throw mine out with the rest of the trash either when I get home or in a bin on the way home.

Gone are the days when mates and I saved all aerosol cans for the monthly bonfire. It's a wonder no one ever got hurt.

John , The aerosol type cant be refilled but the green coleman type with the male thread on the top can be refilled, you can buy an adapter from the states to do this. Its very safe and they sell millions of these adapters in the USA. Michael
