G/Day Doug

They are certainly lucky people.

Again rescuers have to risk their lives to save people who don't think.

Cheers

hi
yes they are very lucky people that someone was there and capable of saving them both their lives are worth far more than the 4wd and van although it is a huge loss for anyone to have to face together with no doubt a lot of personel items
dont know if its true but i believe they were testing the dust and water seals on their offroad van ??????
it certainly finished up off the road as some of the seals are excellent by the way it is floating
the designers got that bit right during the manufacturing process

may the survivors have a much better new year and better luck
cheers

Queensland has a ad campaign going on TV, radio etc.

"IF IT'S FLOODED, FORGET IT."

Will they ever learn???

Hullo Rod
Assuming that they were travelling at night, in my experience it is often very difficult to see water on a road at night as the beam from the headlights reflects straight on and not back to the vehicle and you can be in the water before you realise it, even when travelling relatively slowly, eg 60 kph.
That said, in these circumstances, given the forecast and warnings, and with the rain pelting down, prudence would be in order
Cheers

I've seen some silly things occur over many years, some I've participated in and learned hard lessons myself. The young couple surely have learnt theirs, a very hard lesson indeed.

Clinging to a tree all night with Lizards around wont be forgotten easily.
