Can anyone advise is it possible to tow an caravan( tare 940) using the overdrive
on long trips... was advised that it is a good thing to do...

Auto or manual?
If manual, definitely not, don't use fifth gear either.
If Auto, I would keep it locked out of overdrive and rely on the auto box to handle things.
Don't be afraid to change down earlier rather than leaving it till the motor is struggling.
Try to keep the caravan load to an absolute minimum, it's so easy to keep putting stuff in, buy food rather than carrying enough for your entire trip
Most of the extra stuff will not be used. Keep it light.

Hi disco , thanks for that, its an auto, and yes we travel very light in van and tow vehicle..heard that someone went around aussie with heavey van and burnt out the tranie ... was concerned okay catch up later
