HF RADIO BRACKET

hI ALL
I hope youall can help with a problem i about to have when i change vehicles. I am retiring the Prado from towing duties and have purchased a Ford Falcon RTV ute with a canopy It has HD roof bars. My problem is i have a HF radio aerial and i do not have a bulbar or rear bumper to mount the large aerial for the HF radio, Has anyone have a bracket for the RTV to mount or know where i could buy one

Hi Terry

All I can think off is a bracket welded to a nudge bar or bullbar.

There is nowhere at the rear if it's a styleside ute.

Your Prado photo shows a tap whip mounting.

Other thought would be a firecracker aerial mounted on a fold down mount on the roof bar. Bushcomm do these aerials along with others with a short tap base and flexible tuning wire.
If you mainly use 8022 and 7899 these could be on one tap

Cheers Teza

Hi Terry

You said you're retiring the Prado from towing duties. Does that mean you will still be towing, if so why not make or get made a bracket that bolts onto your tow-bar.
It may be in the way nearer the ball so why not use the tow bar further out - utilizing the tow bar extremities in some way may be the way to go.

Or you could but the bullet and get a bull bar.

cheers

SB, most of the HF aerial mounts on utes I've noticed in the HF Radio Club are custom made and attached to the loading bar directly behind the cab. Or as Phil B says, another option is on the towbar like police cars in the NT.
