Hi,
I hAVE a couple of plastic jerry cans on the back, the ones with the nozzles attached. I will be putting diesel in them.
Should i be concerned about the dust that accumulates in the nozzle, I suppose i could just run through a bit of fuel to clean it out first or take the nozzle off the can and store else where, a bit of a pain and messy.

I just run a bit of fuel out before using it, too hard to store eleswhere (just lazy!).
Cheers

Suzie,
I just stuff both ends full of rag and lightly tape with electrical tape. Then you don't have to worry about the dust.

If in doubt , and have the available funds - replace your jerry cans with the ones that you can pop the nozzles back into the jerry can then put lid back on - that way you never loose nozzles and they stay clean as they are inside the container

Hi Begaboy. But doesn't that mean that when you want to fill your vehicle the nozzle will be coated in diesel? If so it would be a bit messy.
I use removable nozzles, wrap them in a plastic bag and keep them in my storage unit with my spare oils and other fluids.

Gday Kev , yes it does - but better diesel that dirt / sand ect - some people keep disposable latex gloves with them and use when they refuel there car as a LOT of diesel pumps/triggers have diesel on them
In the end , what works for one person does not work for others

G'day Suzie J
You could put a sock over it.
I have a removable jerry-can nozzle that I keep in an old explorer sock under the back
seat, for convenience .
The sock keeps the dirt and dust off but lets the nozzle dry-out in time for the next use .
Everything starts off clean and dry every time also it gives something to wipe the diesel off your hands with when you finish fueling up.
Maybe a doubled sock could be better for external use.
Cheers
