Hi All

Does anyone know what the road is like between Narrabri and Bingara also Delungra to Ashford via Graman? it shows on my map that they are dirt roads. We want to travel that way over the weekend and are unsure if the recent rains have damaged them.

While I am on here is there any recomendations for free camp sites around Ashford or Bonsure area (with toilets) , I do have a camps 5 book as referance

Thanks
Trevor

Trevor,
I drive up and around that way regularly for work (in my Mistu Lancer) and noticed - just before Xmas - that the road Bingara to Narrabri was "closed due to flood damage" at the Bingara end.
Bingara - Gravesend (on the Elcombe road) was open, and in good condition. Highway from Gravesend had some damage but open all the way. Highway back to Inverell was good!

Sorry, cannot help with camp sites around Bonshaw/Ashford.
Cheers
John

Trevor

There is an informal campground at Wells Crossing

Otherwise why not try Pindari Dam?

All bitumen, Narrabri-Bingara
I was on part of it the week before Xmas just after the floods and it was fine, even some of the gravel roads either sidfe of it. There used to be dirt but it was progressively sealed over the past few years.
Can't comment north of Delungra through Graman, but the worst of the rain was well to the west of there and we haven't had much rain sice mid December in northern NSW (until today)

PS it's Bonshaw not Bonsure, can't help with camping spots

Trevor,

last Friday I noticed a number of vehicles & caravans camped at Bonshaw Weir, just off the Bruxner Highway. I don't know whether there are any facilities, and cannot pass any comment on the site.

Thanks for all the feedback, it looks like we will be able to travel that way and with more of the black top than I first thought it looks like being an easy trip.
