i saw a new ford ranger pass through town the other day!

i pretty much had my heart set of the 3.2 td d/c triton till i saw the ranger....

now im really confused on what vehicle to purchase in the not to distant future?

although they are brand new i haven’t read a bad report about the new rangers...

any feedback would be appreciated.

thanks,
smithy.

Agree the Rangers look good. My father picks up a new Mazda BT50 (the rangers non-identical twin) with the 3.2 td in a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to seeing what it is like.

Tritons now have a 2.5l motor.

The Tritons are cheaper again and have a nice long warranty! But I like the new Ranger as well and the 5 cyl 3.2 with an auto does nice 4wd burnouts on the bitumen, or so I've heard!

WDH: weight distribution hitch. Mainly used on trailers with heavy towball weights or where the towing vehicle is already heavily laden as it redistributes the weight far more evenly onto all 4 wheels of the towing vehicle.

No idea why Ford would recommend against them though - seems like arse covering extremis!

Look like a nice vehicle tho.

If you are going to tow a caravan with it then be aware.
Ford do not reccomend a WDH.
The wiring for towing needs to be altered by getting ford to re-set the ems.
So i suggest that you do some research on the vehicle.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

The Ford Ranger already has some type of trailer control as standard

I like the Triton but the ground clearance is not too good, went with the Station owner last Tuesday to a very rugged spot North of the Daly River road , it done a bit of scraping in some of the creeks, The Landcruiser that went with us had no problems.

There are several videos of guys testing the Ranger last year (this year). Ford gave out 5 or 6 in a competition for testing in a range of conditions.

Makes for interesting watching. The Cairns guy found it dragged its towbar on exit but otherwise the reports were good.

Google should get you the videos.

The towbar on the BT50 is tucked up higher than the Ranger. I dont' know why Ford has gone with this big chucky version.
