But a 15inch caravan would trouble the car though :-)

Hi Winterland

We did the Strezlecki track ( more than a track its a High Way) in August 2011, and it was in very good conditions.
We travelled from Innamincka to Lyndhurst, with a Challenger towing a camper trailer.
Just make sure you have extra fuel if you are going to do the full run as there is no fuel stop in between.
And yes it will be very hot in February.

Cheers and enjoy

Robert

Hi Winterland,

We towed up there in mid March a few years back, day after day of mid 40s, the better half is only now starting to talk to me again.

Very, very "HOT"

Col.

Its probably the only time you can go but honestly its too hot. Hard on your vehicle if the heat wont get you the flys will. Hope you take the warnings seriously.

Hi Winterland,
Just returned from the Strezlecki Track yesterday the track is reasonable with a few pot holes and they seem to have just started some 'patrol' grading, as stated it will probably be very hot in February, most of the creeks offer little or no shade. There was only road trains and mining vehicles on the track (we were the only tourists out visiting friends).

Cheers,

Graham

It should have been 15 foot.
Thanks for all the information we will delay the trip to a more suitable temp.
Is it advisable to take a 'normal' caravan on the track?

Hi Winterland,

I will try to answer the question you asked now that the heat issue has been cleared up.

From my memory of the track from last July you will have no problems with the combo you have. The Strez is a broad highway. The only problem people with very large vans (ie much longer than yours) could be the dry creek crossings closer to the Lyndhurst end because of entry/departure angles.

As always check the road conditions close to your time of travel.

Cheers,
Min
