Rockape
I have just shopped around for a set of chev 6.5l injectors as the old girl has started to blow a bit of smoke when given a boot full.
I don't wish to cut out Australian businesses but I can't justify nearly 100% premium on the parts.
New injectors here $900 + postage.
New injectors from US $430 + postage. The postage is $64 for express post $494 tracked and delivery time 5 to 6 working days.
The people I dealt with were also very helpful as the injectors in my engine are not the norm.
There are good Aussie businesses out there and I use them. I will only pay a reasonable premium for the extra wages and rent they have to pay in Australia.
I also have a policy of not going to a store to inspect an item and then buying it on the net. I find doing that is just plain wrong.
Have a good one all,
RA.

Hi Rockape,
Spoke with a very good diesel mechanic just before Chrissy about this.
My old girl has 334000k's on her now and I feel a new set of injectors would do her the world of good and I mentioned I could buys some online for 95 bucks or there abouts exchange for my 1HD-T.
His thoughts were,
He's seen dodgy injectors offered via the internet.
He's seen dodgy mechanics who think it is a piece of cake to rebuilt injectors.
He's also knows people that have replaced their injectors and a worn pump doesn't have the push to crack open the new injectors, so she runs like a hairy goat.
Like you i would rather use a local good tradesman than see my cash go elsewhere.
I know I haven't really answered your question, Just my thoughts mate.

Jon and Karen,
Yep reconditioned or manufactured can be a trap as can new ones manufactured by an unknown source.
As you say the pump could be a tad tired but the way I look at it is if I was going to replace the pump I would replace the injectors anyway.
Your smilie faces are an inspiration to me so I went and got a beer out of the fridge.
Cheers,
RA.

Jon and Karen,
Yep! you have got to be sure where the injectors are coming from before you buy as with most things.
With the pump side of things. If the pump is a tad tired and needs a rebuild I would still do the injectors if that was the case.
Your smilie faces with their pints of cold beer have just made me go to the fridge and get a stubbie of the amber fluid.
Cheers,
RA.

Sorry Jon,
didn't think the first reply went through as the screen froze. Must have been the cold beer.
