Hello Everyone , and Happy New Year . Can anyone advise the point where I can tap into the manifold system with the flexible hose and T piece supplied with the Saas Boost Gauge.
Also does anyone know what the pressure readings should be.,Any help greatly appreciated

Hi Sue and Joe,
I am not sure with the 1HD FTE but with my 1HD FT I tapped into the boost line, running from the inlet pipe where it crosses over the motor, down to the boost compensator which is the round thing on top of the injector pump.
I merely cut the line and fitted the tee in there and run the branch up to the gauge.
Boost pressure was 12 PSI. That is enough if you want your motor to go the long haul. (500,000 Klms plus)
If you get around to fitting an Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge then this becomes a little more muddied.
I have seen recommendations not to let the EGT go over 550 deg. C. and I have read that 750 deg. C. is the max also.
All that did was confuse me so my suggestion is don't fit one as it will only get you edgey if you exceed someones minimum recommendations.
I know believe that if Toyota had thought the machine had needed one they would have fitted it. The 1HD FTE has an enviable reputation as a brilliant workhorse so I would leave it as Mr Toyota made it except for the exhaust system.
Frankly I would not even fit a boost gauge now, after having one fitted because after the novelty wore off I never looked at.
Cheers, Bruce.
PS. A 3" exhaust is all I would do to it if it were mine.

Hi, Joe,
I have a boost gauge fitted to my 1HDFTE & usually see around 5-6lbs boost cruising at 100kph on the open road. Maximum boost with full throttle is 13lbs, & towing my 22ft van varies between 7 & 11lbs depending on wind direction & road conditions, ie hilly etc. I normally tow in 4th gear at around 90kph.
Vehicle is stock standard, no mods at all.
Hope this is of some help.
Regards, Derek

the 550 degree and 750 degree temps depend on whether someone is talking fitting the EGT post turbo or pre turbo, as their is approx. 200 degrees difference when put in either location.

Hi Sue & Joe L, I have fitted one to my 1HDT-FTE. I will try to attach a photo of where. On the right hand side of exhaust gas recirculation actuator is a spigot of the cross-over pipe and cut the 6mm hose before the damper (little white valve looking thing) and used a T piece.
Well I cant seem to insert an image, I am in
Ipswich area send me an MM if you want to have a look at my set up.
Cheers
