Short in tail light circuit. Any clues on how to trace. Good auto elec in Frankston or Leongatha areas?

G'day.
Do you have a trailer or caravan socket on the rear of your car?
If so does it happen all the time or only with van/trailer plugged in?
Broken/shorted wires are pretty common in the socket mounted on the car.
Cheers

I opened up the trailer plug, 7 pin flat type. green indicator wire loose. tightened. seemed fixed. don't know why, then blue fuse again next day.
opened again. checked all rear globes - number plate, brake and wiring. Whoever wired it did it properly with soldering and shrink wrap. couldn't find exposed wire.
taped up again. new fuse. not blowing. must be in the trailer plug somewhere. if happens again I'll get new plug.

Could be anywhere in the trailer, not just in the plug. I know there'll be a lot of booing, but try the next size up fuse. My '03 lux did the same thing and it was overload, not short. A bigger fuse fixed the issue. (I'm a carpenter, not an auto sparky, so for all I know I could have been setting fires as
well, but the SYMPTOMS disappeared might be a better way of putting it?)
