200 Series & CB Location

Hi All
I have just gotten a 200 Series Cruiser and am wondering where I can mount my CB.

The CB is an ICOM 400 Pro.

I can't mount it along the centre console as it interferes with the seat travel.

I had another suggestion to put it under the seat but then how do I control it.

There must be people out there who have faced the same problem.

Please offer me some solutions.

Pete

I have just purchased a 200GX and will be facing the same problem.
Best Bet is unit mounted behind dash and controlled by buttons on the microphone.
That is the setup I have been told is the easiest.

Hi Pete,
I just bought the GME TX3100 because I will have the same problem in the new Landcruiser 79 series single cab. The TX 3100 is designed to fit in place of the ashtray tray, it's so small. The alternative is to fit a roof centre console to fit radios etc.

Hopefully the new "truck" will be delivered on Wednesday so that I too can start to work out where I am going to fit all the "stuff" we are used to carrying around with us these days.... lol...

All the best with the 200.
regards

Fred,

here is a possible solution for your trayback:

Image Could Not Be Found

It comes in 2 parts from here:

Dept of the Interior

If you order it you must specify that the part with the centre bin and drink containers is tapered where it is to join up with the part that goes around the gear stick. Then you can put the UHF remote head where you see it in the photo. Perfect height for an arm rest too. I'm not sure if your model has the bigger passenger seat or the normal size one, you will have to check that everything fits.

cheers

Hi mate,
How's WA these days???? A bit different to Adelaide River?

Thanks for the reply; yes looked at those and others. Bit too much $$$ for me at the moment as the $$ are going to other priorities such as bullbar, Lokkas and 2" lift etc.

I am actually going to make my own centre floor console and centre roof console. Decided I could do it after going through one of the recent 4x4 Action magazines that had a DIY article for just that. Worked out I could make both for around $300 - $400 (depending on how much material I waste lol...)

I have a GME split unit.
The screen and controls on the centre console below radio and the rest fitted in drivers side of transmission tunnel.
Has been there 2 years and I have not hit it with my legs and seems OK. (so far)

Thanks for feedback. I know GME is one way but I have only had the ICOM for 6 months so am loth to replace it. Will see if I can get a mic with all controls on it.

thanks again.

My UHF is a remote head model which makes it easier to find a location.

The box of electrickery went under the seat and the head in front of the ashtray.

Have you looked at a roof console? Might be an option.
