Hey all, need some info on replacement
seat in a 93 Defender, such as; where to look, what is best etc...
It seems the original ones are designed for someone without a spine.
Thankng you in advance,
& a Merry Chrissy to all.

You could wait for your body, spineless or not, to adjust to the original seats as most of us do. They look uncomfortable at first, but I've found them fairly good over 6-700 klm trips.
Not that I've been able to do many of them cos I keep having to come to work, worst luck!

Any
seat you find to replace it with will have to have the adjusters on the inside, reversed to most, due to the Defenders mounting their seats HARD against the doors!
The Army has a few different seats in their Rovers, Stratos and Isri, both are oik, but the suggestion is that they do fit, not the seats themselves. Both have the adjusters to the inside!
Fitting any
seat will be a snap in a rover, as long as they are flat base. Mount the rails of your old seats and you can redrill any holes you like in the floor box. I would seriously consider fitting a few plates under the floor, due to the relativly weak aluminium box the seats sit on. It will destribute the load and prevent cracking and elongation of the holes.
Matt.

I had a similar problem in my 1995 Defender 130, if it is the actual
seat base that is the problem, as
mine was uncomfortable due to the shape, I took them along to an Auto trimmer who added additional foam and then refitted the covers.
I now have very comfortable seats and the fix was about $120

John
