Would anyone know if it is possible to convert the high beam to HID lighting?

Any information appreciated.

Thanks to everyone that replied to my previous thread on the VW.

Cheers,

Hi Onemore...Yes it is possible, as I have fitted HID upgrades to My Troopy .All you need to do is determine what type of globe your headlights use and then you can Buy a HID kit to suit those globes. But it will also turn your low beam to HID as well which is not such a bad thing .One other thing to remember is that the kits come in either 35watt and 55watts.Maybe consult your local Auto electrician to advise you if your unsure of what type of globe your vehicle is using and go from there....Happy motoring

Whilst HID is quite an incredible light particularly if you have them as driving lights and you don't for normal beams you need to know that it is technically illegal to replace standard headlight globes with HID unless they are automatically self levelling. This is an Australian Design Rule requirement. But that doesn't seem to slow the market down

hi onemore
before you start changing things electricly on your vw amarok
take my advice and contact vw service department and make sure that the changing of the globes is compatible and wont interfere with the cpu of the vehicle as the vw systems are touchy when it comes to altering or making electrical connections im surprised that you want change the globes as vw lights are excellent qualitywell my vw golf lights are !

cheers

Agree with mazcan
On the Tiguan it flashes up messages when the trailer wiring is plugged in. it also does all sorts of systems checks when things are turned on.
I was lucky enough to get HID's with the car and the factory set-up is complex. The lights swivel and self level and its goes through a whole set up routine when you turn the lights on with the engine running. This only happens when stationary.

That level of complexity is buried deep in the computer systems so changing things carries a risk of upsetting something.

That's why I am moving so slowly in setting up my dual battery system so I don't screw something up.

How complex are these cars? If I have the hill hold activated and then stop while leaving the engine running, then open the door the handbrake comes on automatically!!
