All Terrain (AT) Tyres

When you are looking for a compromise between off-road capability and good on-road manners, an All-Terrain (AT) tyre is the way to go.

Hi everyone I am asking for comments/information once again. Looking at putting new tyres on before our trip. We were told that the new bridgestone D697 A/T would be the way to go. Has anyone got any comments about these tyres. Thanks for your help. MANDY

first of all i work at bridgestone.
we have only sold one set of 697 there not available in many sizes yet.
so i cant give you any feed back on wear/noise etc
they are suposed to be quieter on the road than the 694 and they have a stronger looking side wall where the tread ends
so far thats all ive got

Hi Mandy,

The problem with a new grade of tyres is that "someone" has to try them out before they become proven.

Both the 693 and 694 Duelers have reached this stage.
I have used 694 Duelers, then 693's on my Jackaroo and now have 693's (fractory standard) on the Colorado.
I have purchased three 694 LT (Light Truck) tyres for the camper and will gradually change over to the LT tyre for the vehicle as the original tyres wear down.
I have a 694 LT as a spare the the tug, after staking one that couldn't be repaired.
Thus the reason for trying the LT construction.

Perhaps ask your local Bridgestone dealer the difference between the D697 and the 694 or 694LT dueler tyres, then make an informed decision based on your perceived use and the cost differential.

Have read up on the D697 Dueler, which Bridgestone state are a replacement for the 694.
That being the case, There should be no problem in using them.

I had a preference at one time for the 693 Dueler, simply because I liked the look of the tread pattern, but I have gone back to the 694LT construction this time round.

Probably, the next time I buy tyres. the 694's will be harder to come by, as the 697's are the newer replacement tyre.

I am more than happy with the Bridgestone brand over others and I'm sure if you buy the D697's you will get good performance and long wear for a competitive price.

Asking about tyres is like asking "how long is a piece of string?" Everyone will have a different opinion. I can only go by what I have used. I have been using the 694LT on the Prado and have been very impressed with them on the bitumen, in the wet and on the rough stuff.

Just make sure that if they are selling you LT tyres that LT is actually written on the trye. If its not there, there you can almost bet that they are not LT.
All the best with the hunt for new shoes for the 4by.

i have used the 694lts on a pajero and now on a prado for a number of years and found them great on different terrains

We do a lot of tyre testing and have been users and fans of 693 and 694 since they were introduced and have a set of 694 LT on one set of rims for general 4WD now.

We were involved in the test and evaluation of the 697 and I would suggest you will not be disappointed. But that said I have no idea what type of off-road use you will put them to. For everything we have ever done and that means all of Australia the 694LT has been an excellent all round performer. But like all tyres you need to mange pressures and speeds or the risk of a failure goes up a lot

When our 694LT come up for replacement later this year we will be putting on a set of 697 as I have that much faith in the tyre based on our long standing use of 693 and 694's as well as being involved in the 697 testing
