Going up to the
corner country this winter, are there any free camps spots to recommend. Bit hard up that way to be on a creek or the like but would be nice.

Hi Jim. On our way up to the
Silverton National Gathering last year we stopped overnight at
Hay. We stayed at the showground and although not free, was only $15 for power and water with amenities. We were towing a 22ft van and stopped at Ivanhoe to get some tomatoes etc for lunch (had to give up fruit & veg at Narrandera) We found the lady at the
Supermarket very friendly but the Servo guy (kid) could not have cared less. Apart from those two business' nothing else was open on a Sat lunchtime.
Hay on the otherhand looked like it had so much to see and do and we wished we had more time to look around. The Murrumbidgee is nearby as
well. If you get the NRMA open road there is a good story in the current edition on the attractions there and on the way up to Ivanhoe. It's probably on line as
well.
We got up to Willcania around 4pm with quite a few scenic stops on the way and a slight detour trying out the
Menindee rd for about 10k (found it too rough for us with the van on)I think you could get to
White Cliffs in a day if you are time poor. Have a great trip. The rain has made the country a pleasure to drive through at the moment. Cheers,Bob.
