I'm in need of a digital voltmeter to assist with monitoring my camper trailer battery status.
I've searched the web and as yet haven't found much.
Can anyone make a recommendation. I would prefer a back lit LCD or LED display.
Thanks in advance
Brian

Brian,
where do you want to locate it - trailer or tug? Close to the battery as possible is best. Look at
baintech.com.au
I use a universal power socket with built in digital voltmeter and three power outlets.
If you want more than just voltage..., you will probably have to go with a power management system... More $$$$. But take a look at baintech, they have lots of stuff.

jaycar do a small digital voltage meter with also an in and out temp display and clock for AFAIK about $39.
I have had one for 12 years now and it is still going strong. although the clock has given up, and it is accurate within about 0.1 volt.
I recall it was used by a camper trailer manufacturer at one stage.

I find it fascinating that you can buy a fairly respectable digital multimeter for less than $20 these days, but be buggered if you can get a decent basic digital voltmeter for that.
However
Not long ago Jaycar/ Electus braught out the QP5586 self powered led digital voltmeter, and matching ammeter.
these come for arround $25 retail.
I've been running one of these stuck to the top of my fuse box for a a few months now and it seems to be a reasonable thing..it seems accurate compered to my better multimeters and is still going.
The only beef I have is that it is LED and ya cant dim the display so, not the best for in dash.
but reasonable and far more affordable than other digital pannel metters than have come to market thus far.
I've played with the clock / thermometer / voltmeters, and they are crappy things and cant be easily flush mounted, although they are reasonable accurate.
cheers

Thanks for this Bantam.
My sentiments exactly. Amazing how you can buy a multi meter for 20 or 30 bucks, but have difficulty purchasing a single use meter for the same money. I have previously had the earlier version of the Jaycar meter, but it required a separate power source. One day the "smoke got out" and it is no more. I shall give the new version a go and see what happens.
